Compliance with all applicable environmental regulations is a priority at Amgen. To achieve this, audits are routinely performed at all our sites including manufacturing, research and development, and distribution facilities. Reports and action plans generated from audits are shared with a global team of environmental professionals who make sure appropriate corrective actions are implemented across the company.

Despite systems to ensure full compliance, there are instances where we have not met our desired level of performance. In 2006, Amgen received nine notices of violation (NOVs). Amgen is committed to taking timely and comprehensive corrective actions in response to all NOVs.

In response to several NOVs in the area of wastewater, Amgen initiated a Global Wastewater Study. The initiatives resulting from this study reduced wastewater NOVs. More than $200 million dollars is being dedicated to capital projects to improve wastewater treatment capabilities at our sites. Click here to learn more about Amgen’s water programs.
