Political Activities

There are legal restrictions on Amgen’s ability to support political candidates or engage in political activities, and we strictly adhere to those restrictions.

Corporations are not permitted to make political contributions in connection with any election to any United States federal office. Similar laws exist in most U.S. states and in some foreign countries.

While Amgen encourages staff to participate in the political process, personal contributions should not be made with or reimbursed by company funds in U.S. federal campaigns or in other campaigns where it is illegal to do so.

Staff who wish to propose any company political contributions anywhere worldwide must contact the company’s Washington D.C. office at 202-585-9610 in advance to discuss.

Lobbying and advocating legislation is also restricted by the United States and certain states and other countries. Before any Amgen staff member takes a public position on government actions on behalf of the company, Amgen’s Washington D.C. office should be consulted at the above number.

Amgen discloses all of its U.S. lobbying activities to the Office of the Clerk, U.S. House of Representatives.  These disclosures are publicly available on the website of the Office of the Clerk, U.S. House of Representatives, at this address. (To view Amgen’s disclosures, select “Client Name” as the search field and enter “Amgen” in the corresponding “Criteria” box.)

To learn more about Amgen’s participation in the political process, including our political contributions, which we disclose twice yearly, please visit our Political Contributions section.
