Amgen diligently supports nonprofit organizations that are important to its staff members. In 1993, the Amgen Matching Gift Program was established by the Amgen Foundation to give individual staff members the opportunity to increase financial support to their favorite charities. The Foundation matches every dollar donated by an Amgen staff member -- from $50 to to a cumulative total of $20,000 annually -- to eligible nonprofit organizations.

Since its inception, the Foundation has matched $13.5 million in staff donations, resulting in  more than $27 million of support to worthy organizations. In 2006 alone, close to 8,200 gifts were made by Amgen staff members; including the Foundation match, the community received nearly $6 million to support their good work. By matching donations from individual staff members, the Amgen Foundation has extended its reach to thousands of outstanding nonprofit organizations across the United States and Puerto Rico.
