This week (May 8-14) is National Women's Health Week and Amgen is collaborating with the Office of Women’s Health to encourage women to take steps to make bone strength a priority.
Amgen is supporting National Women's Health Week (NWHW) by helping to raise awareness of the Know My Bones program which targets women with postmenopausal osteoporosis (PMO). This program is part of a growing national effort to make bone strength a priority. The month of May is also National Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month, making it a great time of year to learn about your bones and what you can do to help keep them strong.
Postmenopausal osteoporosis is a condition that weakens bones over time, making them thinner, more brittle, and more likely to break. Amgen strives to make this all too common disease a priority for women, and encourage patients to talk to their physicians about their PMO. For more information about PMO, please visit KnowMyBones.com.
An effort spearheaded by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Office on Women's Health, National Women's Health Week seeks to have women put their health first. They play a critical role in helping the Office on Women's Health (OWH) celebrate the weeklong health initiative by encouraging women to take simple steps for a longer, healthier, and happier life and educating women about improving their physical and mental health and lowering their risk of certain diseases.
