Amgen, on October 24, celebrated the official opening of its newest affiliate, Amgen Argentina, and announced a USD $100 million investment plan that includes the construction of a high-quality laboratory and opening of its own offices in Buenos Aires. The affiliate is hiring more than 70 employees in 2018 and expects to contribute to 900 jobs indirectly within its first year of operation in Argentina.

"Our vision includes contributing to a more sustainable health system in Argentina, with plans to deliver our pipeline of both innovative drugs and biosimilar medicines for patients suffering from serious illnesses," said Cristian Videla, General Manager of Amgen in Argentina.

"Our presence in Argentina started in 2011 through clinical research programs and in 2013 we started marketing some of our products here through local distributors," Videla explained.
