Remembering Amgen Board Member François de Carbonnel

A Message from Bob Bradway

We at Amgen were saddened by the recent passing of our friend and retired Board colleague François de Carbonnel. He was 73 and died peacefully at his home in Switzerland after a long and courageous battle with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis – ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease.

François served with distinction on Amgen’s Board of Directors from 2008 until his retirement in 2018. As a member of the Audit Committee throughout his ten years on the Board, he helped ensure that Amgen maintained the highest standards of financial reporting and operations. He also demonstrated leadership through his service on the Corporate Responsibility and Compliance Committee and the Governance and Nominating Committee. Additionally, François provided invaluable counsel on Amgen’s strategic initiatives.

Our company was fortunate to have had such a devoted director and supporter, and we will miss him for his keen insights, fun sense of humor, and courage. We extend our deepest sympathies to François’s family.
