Environment, Health, and Safety

Amgen recognizes that excellence in Environment, Health and Safety (“EHS”) performance is integral to an efficient and successful business. Amgen is committed to achieving high standards of environmental quality and to providing a safe and healthy workplace for all of its staff members, contractors, and temporary staff. It is company policy to comply with all applicable environmental, health and safety laws and regulations.

Every Amgen staff member is encouraged to improve workplace health and safety by recognizing and mitigating potential hazards. Examples include using proper personal protective equipment, ensuring workstations are ergonomically correct, and handling and storing hazardous materials correctly.

Amgen staff members at all Amgen sites that are involved with processes that could affect the environment are trained to perform their jobs conscientiously and to practice proper disposal of waste, accurate monitoring of environmental discharges and emissions, and appropriate handling of hazardous materials.

Amgen staff members at all Amgen sites are required to report all work-related injuries, illnesses or environmental incidents to their supervisor immediately. Amgen uses the U.S. Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) system to record and report work-related illness and injuries.

Environmental Compliance

Compliance with all applicable environmental regulations is a priority at Amgen. To achieve this, internal audits are routinely performed at all our sites including manufacturing, research and development, and distribution facilities. Reports and action plans generated from audits are shared with a global team of environmental professionals who make sure appropriate corrective actions are implemented across the company.

Amgen is committed to taking timely and comprehensive corrective actions in response to all notices of violation (NOVs).
